We continue to compensate our parish staff, commensurate with their dedication and professionalism, budget for a significant increase in our property, liability, and health insurance, as well as electricity and water, and provide funding for all programs, ministries, and outreach.
As we soon embark on the Campaign for Spiritual Renewal, we will maintain our weekly Sunday Offertory goal at $24,385. This is the amount we need each week to meet our financial responsibilities. We encourage you to prayerfully discern a 5-10% increase in your weekly or monthly donation.
Our grief group is for those who seek consolation after the death of a loved one, whether the death is recent or long ago. We give voice to our unique journeys of grief and find healing and spiritual growth.
This is a 6-week program in which each week builds on the previous one through information, discussion, sharing, reflection, and Scripture. We come together in a small/intimate gathering to share from our hearts and listen to one another.
Sowing Seeds of Faith is a diocesan-wide campaign for spiritual renewal that supports our Pastoral Plan, Renewed in Christ, Together in Mission. Unlike a typical capital campaign focused on buildings, this effort is about renewing our mission — strengthening faith formation, supporting vocations, reaching the disengaged, and helping every parish bring the Pastoral Plan to life in their community.

The Institute for Leadership in Ministry is a 3-year course of study for the laity. The ILM provides training and faith formation for lay leaders in the Church. The theological base for this program is found in the documents of the Second Vatican Council. Responding to their baptismal call, graduates return to their parish to serve in various leadership roles in Liturgy, Catechetics, Social Justice, Pastoral Care, and many others.

Probably every Catholic in the world knows Pope Leo XIV has released his first encyclical, MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS, ON SAFEGUARDING THE HUMAN PERSON IN THE TIME OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCЕ, but have we all read it? You can read it for free online, listen to it, or buy a book from many publishers.
In July, Bridges to Community will collect new children’s backpacks and $25 Target gift cards for families to purchase the school supplies needed for the backpacks. The backpacks and gift cards will be given to the children of low-income families in the Alta Housing community who are enrolled in summer reading and study group programs. Alta Housing provides low and moderate-income housing for families in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
Memorial Day is the “unofficial start of Summer—the time of vacations and weekends away. This can be quite challenging for our parish financially. As the attendance at our weekend Masses declines, so can the weekly support of our parishioners—a very good reason to consider using ONLINE GIVING. The challenge is that our financial responsibilities do not go away during June, July, and August.
With hearts full of joy, we extend our warmest congratulations to Michael and Katie Sternhagen on the beautiful blessing of their child's birth, Emily Grace. As Michael embraces this special season of fatherhood, he will be taking paternity leave for the foreseeable future to spend valuable time with his growing family.
How can you tell if you have the right understanding—the biblical interpretation, Jesus’ interpretation—of the Eucharist? I’d suggest five things to look for: your beliefs should be strange, sacrificial, serious, sacramental, and shocking.
While Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas calls on political leaders and creators of artificial intelligence systems to act responsibly, considering the threats this technology poses to the human person, much of the Pope’s concrete suggestions are aimed at ordinary people.
Father Brendan McGuire used to be a Silicon Valley technology executive. Now he’s hearing their confessions. Today, the Irish-born pastor of St. Simon Catholic Parish in Los Altos, California, is helping to shape the moral conscience of the artificial intelligence industry.

This was a big week, as we reached an important milestone: we passed the $40 million mark! A year ago, we had not yet raised a single dollar. Today, thousands of faithful and committed stewards from every corner of the Diocese have responded with generosity, embracing not only the renewal of their parish communities, but also their own personal renewal in Christ. What a powerful testament to the living work of the Gospel and to what God can accomplish through hearts filled with faith, gratitude, and generosity.
The novena in honor of the Holy Spirit is the oldest of all novenas since it was first made at the direction of Our Lord Himself when He sent His apostles back to Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost. It is still the only novena officially prescribed by the Church. Addressed to the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, it is a powerful plea for the light and strength and love so sorely needed by every Christian.
