Below you will find a list of the different ministries which are only made possible thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers. If you are interested in assisting or have more questions please contact our Liturgy Director, Michael Sternhagen ([email protected]).
Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers: These ministers assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion to the congregation during Mass. They may also bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are unable to attend due to illness, age, or other reasons. Through this ministry, they extend the grace of the Eucharist beyond the church walls, ensuring that all have the opportunity to receive the Body and Blood of Christ.
Ushers: Ushers play a key role in creating a welcoming and organized environment at Mass. They greet parishioners and visitors as they enter the church, assist with seating, and manage the orderly flow during key moments like the collection and Communion. Ushers also help with distributing bulletins, answering questions, and addressing any needs that arise during the service, contributing to a smooth and reverent liturgical experience.
Lectors: Lectors proclaim the Word of God by reading during Mass. They prepare and practice the readings to ensure clarity and reverence, helping the congregation to hear and reflect on the sacred texts. By effectively delivering the Word, lectors deepen the community’s understanding and connection with the Bible, making the liturgy more meaningful.
Altar Servers: Altar servers assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of Mass by carrying the cross, holding the book, preparing the altar, and performing other duties. Serving at the altar fosters a sense of responsibility and service in young people and adults alike, allowing them to take an active role in the liturgy and witness their faith in action.
Sacristans: Sacristans are responsible for preparing everything needed for the celebration of Mass. They ensure that the altar and surrounding areas are set up according to the liturgical norms and properly cared for after Mass. Sacristans play an important behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the smooth and reverent celebration of the Eucharist.
Floral Ministry: The Floral Ministry enhances the beauty of the church environment by arranging and attending our flowers. Their work reflects the glory of God in creation, creating an atmosphere of reverence, joy, and spiritual reflection. Floral ministers carefully consider the liturgical calendar and seasonal colors in their designs, adding beauty to the worship space.
Hospitality: The Hospitality Ministry provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for fellowship after Mass by serving refreshments such as coffee and donuts. This ministry encourages parishioners to build community, get to know one another, and welcome new members. By fostering personal connections, the Hospitality Ministry helps strengthen the bonds of the parish family, making the church a place of both spiritual and social nourishment.
Linens Ministry: Our Linens Ministry is responsible for washing, drying, and ironing the altar linens, ensuring that each liturgy is celebrated with clean, well-cared-for, and dignified materials that reflect the reverence of the Mass.
AV team:our AV team assists with live-streaming the 11am Mass at St William each Sunday. This important ministry enables many sick and homebound to participate in our parish liturgies each week.
