We have begun a new fiscal year (July 25-June 26). Thank you for your support of the mission and ministries of our parish. During the month of AUGUST, our average weekly collection was $22,447. You also generously donated to various important causes in our AUGUST/special collections at $17,688 ($4,422 weekly). This brings our weekly AUGUST total $26,869.
Thank you for your overwhelming support of Bishop Cantu’s ministry to the people of our Diocese. Thus far, 358 families have paid $600,491 toward our parish goal of $440,000. We are projecting a rebate of $160,000. There are still over 75 families who made gifts for the 2024 ADA campaign, but not this year. Our rebate will help fund our restroom and Reconciliation chapel project at St. William Church.
The bride and groom’s status as the ministers of the sacrament is meant to be reflected in the wedding liturgy, including the procession. In fact, the liturgical guide for weddings that was in use until 2016 explicitly states that “if there is a procession to the altar,” the bride and bridegroom enter last, behind the servers and priest. The text adds that the couple may be escorted by “at least” their parents and “the two witnesses”— the maid of honor and best man — “according to the local custom.”
I first met Charlie Kirk about four years ago when I was in Phoenix for a speaking engagement. He reached out and invited me to breakfast. I was deeply impressed by him that day. He was a man of great intelligence, considerable charm, and real goodness of heart.
