A Holy Hour is not about "doing" something perfectly; it is about "being" with Someone who loves you. It is an hour consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Holy Eucharist. Whether you spend it reading, praying, or simply sitting in silence, the goal is the same: to be with Him.

We offer several opportunities for confessions during Lent. ~Every Saturday from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm at St. William Church; ~Every Wednesday from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at St. Nicholas Church; ~During our Parish Mission, March 9 – 11, confessions will start at 6:00 pm at St. William Church; ~Our Lenten Penance Liturgy is on Wednesday, March 25, at 7:00 pm at St. William Church. ~Confessions are also offered on Good Friday, April 3, at St. William Church from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.

We have begun the second half of the fiscal year (July 25-June 26). Thank you for your support of our parish's mission and ministries. In January, our average weekly collection was $21,307. You also generously donated to various important causes through our January special collections, totaling $9,323 or ($2,331) per week). This brings our weekly January total to $23,638. We budgeted our Sunday Offertory income (less special collections) for JUL-JAN (29 weeks x $25,000) at $750,000, and we received $732,163 (-$18,000).

In communion with the universal Church, the Diocese of San José joyfully announces that Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in San Jose has been designated as the official Pilgrim Church of the Diocese for the Franciscan Jubilee Year, to be observed from January 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027.

All Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence from all meat (beast our fowl). The law of abstinence requires a Catholic 14 years of age until death to abstain from eating meat on Fridays in honor of the Passion of Jesus on Good Friday.

In keeping with our parish tradition, the Sacrament of Baptism is not celebrated during the 40 days of Lent. Baptismal catechesis continues for parents and godparents of children scheduled for baptism in the spring and summer. Contact the Parish Office to begin this preparation.

This Lent, our parish is coming together to participate in the 51st annual CRS Rice Bowl program, a beautiful "faith-in-action" opportunity to live out the Lenten pillars of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. By placing these iconic cardboard bowls on your dinner table, you join a global community dedicated to ending hunger and poverty.

We are collecting Hygiene Supplies at all Masses the first weekend of Lent (2/21 & 2/22) to support our sister parish, St. Leo the Great in San Jose. Necessities include toilet paper, laundry detergent, diapers/wipes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste/brushes, razors/shaving cream, etc.

Franciscan School of Theology at the University of San Diego is now offering a Doctor of Education in Catholic Thought in Practice. The program includes a track for Mental Health Ministry.
